Every birthday I ask friends and family to donate to a charity of my choice instead of receiving gifts. Last year, I raised $1275 to provide clean drinking water for the country of Mozambique- a country in Africa in extreme poverty and unhealthy living conditions. Every year, 82,000 children of Mozambique don’t make it to the age of 5.
Life is truly a gift- words can’t describe the gratitude I have for those who helped me make a difference in the world.
This year’s fundraiser is dedicated to:
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Annual
“Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk”
Held on June 8th.
Did you know?
- there is one death by suicide every 40 seconds
- For every one death, there are 25 attempts
- 1 million people die every year
What is it?
Once a year- for one night, thousands join together to walk through the night to fight suicide. Specifically, people walk 16 miles to not only raise awareness, but raise funds to fight the #2 killer of people ages 15-32.
Why I need your help
Entry fee for the walk is $1,000 per walker. Last year, the organization raised 3 million in one night (in San Francisco alone- there are walks throughout the entire country).
What are these funds used for?
Money raised from the walks support the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention for research, educational programs (educating people on seeing the signs of a person wanting to commit suicide and how to help [in schools & the workplace]) , public policy initiatives, and to support those affected by suicide.
Where do I send the money?
The funds do not go directly to me. I have registered with the organization to ensure that you know your funds are going directly towards the fundraiser.

Can I have you walk for a loved one?
Another reason why I wanted to walk this year is because I personally know people who have lost a loved one to suicide. If you’d love for me to walk in their name- please send me a message and I’d be happy to!
Where can I join myself? Is it too late?
& no, it is not too late. You can sign up at any time!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read through this post & learn more about my fundraiser.
